Picnic Tables Before and After

Weathering and aging is the most
common reason wood comes to us;
and in this case, the wood was in such
bad shape it required a complete renovation.

After removing the hardware we removed
the old veneer. The picnic tables were
then prepped for the new veneer.

Choosing veneer is an art unto itself.
It requires careful selection with
attention to patterns for bookmatching.
Notice the exact alignment of the seam.
It must be perfect to create a flawless
bookmatch.

Once the bookmatch is made, it is
applied to the picnic table. The cross
banding is next. Similar steps are
followed for it.

Finally the tables are color-matched to the
existing wood in the car and finished with
a clear gloss. The result here was superb!
