Talbot Lago 1937

dash The woodwork and other components of this
stunning classic had gone through restorative
operations in Europe just a few years ago.
However, to compete at the level that this car
was destined for, the restorer realized that a
complete restoration was necessary.

For the woodwork, which was completely intact,
this meant repairs, color considerations and
the details of finishing.

The joinery in the wooden door surrounds
was loose as one might expect after so many
decades. The door wood was disassembled
and the joints were cleaned. New splines
were fitted and the wood was reglued in the
Talbot to ensure proper alignment.

carving The characteristic Fagoni and Falashi details
carved into the wood had gotten
soft over time,
and this was the perfect opportunity to
sharpen their appearance.
rear Such a rear window!
That's when they knew how to design wood!
